Çayeli Bakır rebuilt Çamlıca Mahallesi Mosque

Çayeli Bakır, one of Turkey’s underground mining enterprises, rebuilt and reopened for service one of the oldest mosques in the region, Çamlıca Mahallesi Mosque, which was originally built in 1947. The reopening ceremony of the historic mosque, held on October 5, 2018 before Friday prayer, was participated by Çayeli District Governor Mehmet Öztürk, Madenli Mayor Necip Yazıcı, Çayeli Bakır General Manager Murat Güreşçi, Çayeli District Mufti Mehmet Uzun, neighborhood representatives and local residents.

Çayeli Bakır, contributing to the local economy since it was established in 1992, completed the reconstruction of Çamlıca Mahallesi Mosque. The historic mosque, built in the 1940s is one of the oldest mosques in the region. The mosque’s original stones were used during reconstruction of the Çamlıca Mahallesi Mosque.

The reopening ceremony of the mosque, reconstruction of which was completed in almost one year, held on October 5, 2018 before Friday prayer, was participated by Çayeli District Governor Mehmet Öztürk, Madenli Mayor Necip Yazıcı, Çayeli Bakır General Manager Murat Güreşçi, Çayeli District Mufti Mehmet Uzun, neighborhood representatives and local residents.


Speaking at the ceremony, Çayeli Bakır General Manager Murat Güreşçi said, “This mosque is one of the oldest mosques in the region and has a very precious and spiritual value. We conducted the reconstruction of the mosque in coordination with the neighborhood community and the mosque association.




The stones of the mosque were carried here years ago on the back of the people who lived here. For this reason, we used the same stones in the reconstruction of the mosque again. We hope and pray that Çamlica Mahallesi Mosque will be beneficial to all the people of the neighborhood.”

Mehmet Öztürk, the District Governor of Çayeli, expressed his gratitude to Çayeli Bakır for bringing the mosque back to the region and asked the officials about the process of reconstruction. Mayor of Madenli, Necip Yazıcı, stated that they were gladly fulfilling every responsibility in the process of the rebuilding of the historical mosque and thanked Çayeli Bakır for the restoration of the mosque. Çayeli District Mufti Mehmet Uzun stated that it was very meaningful to reopen this beautiful mosque for worship during the week of mosques. The ceremony ended with prayers, Friday prayers and dinner service.
