Çayeli Copper is raising awareness among the women of Rize on breast cancer
Turkey’s underground metal mine operations, the Çayeli Copper Operations, is organizing a series of activities for all the women of Rize, especially wives of Çayeli Copper workers, in honor of October the month of Breast Cancer Awareness. ÇBİ General Manager Iain Anderson said “Just like in mining, early diagnosis can save lives in cancer. We wanted to draw the attention of all women to this cause, especially the wives of our Çayeli Copper employees”.
Turkey’s underground metal mine operations, the Çayeli Copper Operations, is organizing a series of activities for all the women of Rize, especially wives of Çayeli Copper workers, in honor of October the month of Breast Cancer Awareness, to warn women to be prepared and aware of this disease.
A ceremony was organized at the Hamit Bostancı Education and Culture Center on Thursday October 13 to bring to life this project for raising awareness for Breast Cancer, which was attended by Madenli Mayor Necip Yazıcı, the Çayeli Copper Operations General Manager Iain Anderson and the Rize Public Health Assistant Manager Dilek Ercan Köse. Madenli Mayor Necip Yazıcı, who spoke at the ceremony, thanked Iain Anderson for the contributions of Çayeli Copper to public health. In the speech made by Çayeli Copper General Manager Iain Anderson, he said “We wanted to raise awareness among our employees, their spouses and our neighbors about how important regular screening is for breast cancer. I want to thank the Çayeli Copper Women’s committee for organizing this activity, the Rize Provincial Health Directorate for their cooperation and the Madenli Municipality for their support”. The Rize Public Health Directorate presented Çayeli Copper with a plaque of gratitude.
As the ceremony continued all of the women working in the Çayeli Copper Operations painted the health building on the mine site in pink. Courses will be organized for the public by the Rize Public Health Directorate Cancer Branch at the Hamit Bostancı. Also women over 40 will be given free breast scans.
