The Collaboration Between Madenli Municipality and Çayeli Copper, provides a Cultural Centre to Madenli
Hamit Bostancı Cultural Centre, founded with the collaboration between Madenli Municipality and Çayeli Copper has opened its doors. Built by the financing of Çayeli Copper Entreprises in the memory of Hamit Bostancı, who lost his life due to a tragic accident in the copper mine in 2004, the cultural centre’s opening ceremony was organized with the participation of Hayati Yazıcı, the Vice President of the Justice and Development Party and the Deputy of İstanbul, Erdoğan Bektaş the Governor of Rize, Hikmet Ayar and Hasan Karal, the Deputies of Rize, Semih Coşkun, the Provincial Gendarmerie Regimental Commander, Reşat Kasap, the Mayor of Rize, Turgay Ünsal, the District Governor of Çayeli, Adem Çakıcı, the Provincial Police Chief, Atilla Esmen, the Mayor of Çayeli, Hakan Gültekin, the Mayor of Ardeşen, Necip Yazıcı, the Mayor of Madenli, Mustafa Külünkoğlu, the Mayor of Büyükköy, Muhammet Avcı, the Provincial Head of the Justice And Development Party, Ali Kar, the District Head, Iain Anderson the General Manager of Çayeli Copper Enterprises, the bureaucrats and the people of Madenli.
The Cultural Centre, which is built with the Madenli Municipality of Çayeli District and Çayeli Copper Enterprises’ support and named after Hamit Bostancı, who has lost his life due to an accident in the copper mine in 2004, has been put into the service of the people of Madenli. “We are very happy to provide this centre to Madenli,” said Necip Yazıcı, the Mayor of Madenli who gave a speech in the opening ceremony. “We are thankful to everyone in ÇBİ, particularly to Iain Anderson, the General Manager of Çayeli Copper Enterprises, for providing moral and material support since the beginning of the cultural centre. We believe this centre will help in many areas, especially in people of Madenli’s education. The name of Hamit Bostancı who has lost his life in the mine will live with this centre.”
“As Çayeli Copper Enterprises, we would like to commemorate our colleague Hamit Bostancı whom we lost due to a tragic accident in the mine,” said The General Manager of Çayeli Copper Enterprises, Iain Anderson. “For this reason we consulted his family and offered to name the centre after him. I express my gratitude to them for accepting this proposal. I would like to thank everyone who contributed, particularly to our mayor Necip Yazıcı who lead the building of Madenli Hamit Bostancı Cultural Centre and ensured its completion rapidly”. Anderson also wished that people of Madenli will enjoy their new cultural centre.
In the ceremony, besides the deputies Hasan Karal and Hikmet Ayar, İstanbul deputy Hayati Yazıcı also gave a speech. “It’s very significant to give the name of Hamit Bostancı to this place,” said Yazıcı, the Vice President of the Justice and Development Party. “The General Manager of Çayeli Copper, Mr. Anderson requested that this facility should be named after the deceased miner. I congratulate them for showing this loyalty and for providing this facility to the region.”

Hamit Bostancı Cultural Centre, which was completed in 12 months, thanks to Madenli Municipality’s great success, will serve the people of Madenli and the surrounding community. The Cultural Centre has one assembly hall, a conference room for 500 people and an accommodation facility for up to 10 people. The Cultural Centre will host all kinds of seminars and conferences, which will support the development of the local people.
